2019年10月15日下午,国防科技大学助理教授付祥来《量子软件前沿》课堂为大家分享了题为“Quantum Control Architecture -- Bridging the Gap between Quantum Software and Hardware”的报告。本次报告会由中国科学技术大学计算机科学与技术学院和中科院量子信息重点实验室主办,张昱老师邀请。



报告摘要

Quantum computers promise to solve problems intractable by classical computers. Previous research in quantum computing engineering has focused primarily on the opposite ends of the required system stack: devising high-level programming languages and compilers to describe and optimize quantum algorithms, and building reliable low-level quantum hardware. Relatively little attention has been given to using the compiler output to fully control the operations on experimental quantum processors.

Bridging this gap, we proposed a flexible control microarchitecture, QuMA, and an executable quantum instruction set architecture (QISA), named eQASM. QuMA is a heterogeneous architecture, which can execute quantum-classical mixed code to control superconducting quantum processors. It is featured by a codeword-based event control scheme, queue-based precise event timing control, and a flexible multilevel instruction decoding. eQASM is highlighted by a quantum-classical hybrid programming model, high code density, comprehensive program flow control, and configurable QISA at compile time. A 32-bit instance of eQASM was implemented by the microarchitecture QuMA_v2. With eQASM and QuMA_v2, a prototype of a full-stack quantum computer was built with high-level quantum software (programming language, Python/C++, and quantum compiler, OpenQL) seamlessly connected to a superconducting quantum processor at the bottom level. This prototype was verified by some quantum algorithms as well as quantum experiments.

付祥简介

Xiang Fu is an assistant professor in Quantum Computing Lab, Institute for Quantum Information and State Key Laboratory of High-Performance Computing (HPCL), National University of Defense Technology (NUDT). He got his bachelor's degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University in 2011, and master's degree from College of Computer, NUDT in 2013. He started doctoral research on quantum control (micro)architecture at QuTech, Delft University of Technology in 2014 and got his Ph.D. in 2018. He is honored by the best paper award of MICRO 2017 and Top Picks 2017. His current research interest include quantum computer architecture, and quantum programming language and compiling.
